Stacey and I went in for our last Dr's visit today. The main purpose of the meeting was to check Lonnie's growth over the past 2 weeks to see if we can get medical approval to force this baby out on Thursday. The cutoff is 3,800 grams...which I think comes out close to 8lbs 6oz (no one double-check that...just go with it). 2 weeks ago, Lonnie was 7lbs 9oz, so if the rumor of an ounce per day is true, we would be cutting it close somewhere around 8lbs 7oz.
We went into the Sonographer's office and not so subtly hinted that we needed 3,800 grams. She said she would see what she could do, but no guarantee of fudging numbers on our behalf. After the usual checks, she went in for the 3 crucial measurements...head, belly, femur.
We started with the head. I'm no sonographer, but it looked like she was trying way too hard to measure it exactly right. I mean, we weren't even getting the outside of the head measurement. This was going to be tough.
Belly came next, followed by the femur.
She plugged in the measurements, crunched some numbers, tested the wind direction, updated her Facebook status, and then gave us the good news...3,998 grams. Our excitement quickly turned to reserved jubilation when she told us 3,998 grams meant 8lbs 13oz. Which means that we're looking at a 9lb baby by the time we have it. Sorry Stace!!
The really good news is that we are medically approved to induce on Thursday. Our appt is scheduled for 6am.
