Austin Trip

We were in Austin again to spend time with family and friends. There are a ton of pictures so feel free to skip them if you get bored. :) One event we didn't get any pics of was a dinner that Jennifer, Jake and I attended called Supper Underground. There is a woman in Austin who hosts dinners every so often at private residences in Austin. The dinners are difficult to get a reservation since they only host about 20-30 people. Once you get your reservation she sends you the dinner location the morning of and you pretty much just show up and a chef cooks you this amazing 4 course meal (and a mouche bouche) that is served at a huge long common table. It was really delicious and its always fun to meet new people who enjoy eating as much as you do. :) It's also pretty amazing to see a chef cook a four course dinner for 30 in someones kitchen...it was impressive! The dessert was delicious and strange all at the same time...sweet corn ice cream topped with salted caramel. I couldn't decide if it was weird or yummy.

We also had a great night out with Rob, Michelle, Natalie and Scott and forgot to take pictures. Whoops!

It seems that every time we go to mom and dads Jack hits a new milestone or does something he hasn't done before. This trip he kept rolling over like a mad man, as soon as you lay him down he flips onto his stomach. And he also started to hold his own bottle. You still have to assist or else it might end up in his eyeball, but the hand control is a big step!

We went to our old alum, now known as Texas State, to show Jack where the love began. :) We had lunch at the San Marcos River Pub. It was a hot one and that river was calling our name.

A stop at Kay and Renees to visit with Gage and Ella. They were so sweet and referred to him only as Jack Carter. We played in their kitchen and Gage and Ella made us lots of onion doughnuts...yum!

The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary was really fun. They are a non-profit zoo that rescues animals who are in need or their owners are no longer able to care for them....which includes a retired Baylor bear mascot. The three of us and a bossy peacock had lunch in their picnic area before checking out all the animals.

He is definitely enjoying retired life!

When I was in 8th grade our family hosted a foreign exchange student Masako from Japan. Her parents were in town for a visit.

Me, Jacob and Jack also made a trip out to Shiner TX to the Spoetzl Brewery. Don't worry, Jack wasn't the only baby at the brewery tour...there was actually another baby Jack there. Apparently we named our child the most common name of 2011. We are meeting Jack's all over the place!
