Austin public schools have Dual Language programs at a handful of campuses where children are taught in a 70/30 model...70% of the lessons will be taught in Spanish and 30% in English. This specific school does all subjects in Spanish and Math in English. The kids in class will be both English speakers and native Spanish speakers. There happened to be an open spot for Pre-K at our 1st choice school and they offered that spot to Jack to start this semester. We jumped at the chance since it's a crazy process to get into these programs, and it's especially hard for us since we have to transfer Jack in because our home school does not offer Dual Language. He will be in this program now until 5th grade. Long story short, Jack started his first day of Pre-K today and he was crazy excited!
