First week of summer started off great. Jack started his first camp which was a Lego Star Wars camp. Here are some pics!
Sadly there are only a few because Wednesday night we went to the park and Jack was running with Lucy...they got tied up in each other and Jack fell right on his shoulder. The boy is so dang dramatic so it's hard to tell exactly when he's really hurt, but we decided to take him to an after hours hospital just to get him checked out. We get to the hospital and of course he sees snacks and immediately stops crying. They take us back and he's laying down on the gurney lifting his "hurt" arm in the air...I texted Jake that I am pretty sure he was faking, but we might as well get the x-rays so we don't have to come back.
They take us back for x-rays and I'm back in the computer room and see the first one come back of both shoulders and one collarbone is straight and the other is not. I quickly become really really HOT and I need to sit down...these x-rays can't be done quick enough.
We finally get back to Jack's room and while we are waiting on the doctor I have to steal Jack's ice pack to put on my head and pretty much lay out in my chair and focus on not passing out. Talk about dramatics...right?!?
They gave him some Motrin and Jack is doing really great at this point while mom is still trying to recover. The doc tells us it's a fractured collarbone, he's out for 4-6 weeks and we have to see an orthopedic doctor. BOO the first week of summer!
At this point we are almost in week 2 and we haven't given him pain medication since we brought him home. He is trying to do anything and everything like he did before. The orthopedic doc said he needs to stay in a sling for 4 weeks and be back in 5 to check him out. Jack really wanted him to put on a cast, but the doc said he would only give him a cast if he could pull that front tooth...that worked, Jack was ready to head home in his sling.
So here we go! We've had to cancel his sports camp and sign him up for Art camp. Wah wah! All in all though we have the best case senario and Jack is doing wonderful!
