Jen and dad have the process mastered where they'll get up at the crack of dawn that Friday morning and park our normal cars on South Congress to hold the space. Later in the afternoon dad and his buddies come with their old cars and replace the parked ones. We bring our chairs and set up shop with pizza and beer and watch all the hot rods drag on by. It really is a scene from a movie. There is all the best kinds of people and car watching going on.
We got a sitter for Clive and let Jack come out for a few hours since he enjoyed it so much last year. Poor Clive, we get him a sitter on week 6 and Jack still has never had an official sitter. Both boys did great! Jack went home early with grandma Judy and we hung out to check out some more cars then headed to a bar by our house for a few drinks to maximize our baby free night out.
Sweet Clive patiently waiting for his first sitter, Abby
Jack and Papa. That's right, there are stained glass windows in that car.
And now, Jack's 5 tips for looking cool while driving a hot rod
1. You want to apply nice, even pressure to the horn when you see a pretty lady walk by
2. You have to master the no-look, shove pizza in your mouth while driving technique
3. Always have phonebooks in the car so you can drive standing up and make people think you are like 6 or 7
4. Know all of the great hotspots and point them out to your passengers...even if your passenger is an ice chest
5. Finally, the right way to put out the vibe for all the lovely ladies walking by
